How To Get To Waterfalls
3 Options
- Gojek
- Taxi
- Personal Driver
You can take a Gojek/Taxi/Personal Driver to the waterfall. All the waterfalls have parking and then you walk down a staircase to reach the waterfall.
I recommend using a driver if you’re not staying near Ubud. My personal recommendation is Bali The Best I Nyonman Edi Suryawan.
He’s a very friendly driver and will talk to you all day about Bali and it’s history. We mentioned we wanted to see more local places and he made sure that on his trips he drove us through local towns and markets rather than past the big tourist spots!

Are popular waterfalls in Bali worth it?

Are the most popular tourist waterfalls really worth visiting? I was skeptical when looking at the reviews online that the waterfall was going to be another tourist central area.
To get down to the waterfall you need to buy a ticket which cost 50, 000 rupiah each.
Down at the bottom people are lining up to get their photo in the Kanto Lampo waterfall. It’s not deep enough to swim so if that’s what you’re looking for then this waterfall isn’t it. The waterfall is purely for photos and the area around the bottom is a thin river rather than a basin.
If the perfect instagram photos is what you want then Kanto Lampo Waterfall is the perfect place.
However if you’re looking for a natural experience where you can swim in the waterfall give it a pass and try the Taman Sari Waterfall instead.
Taman Sari Waterfall - The Best Waterfall for Swimming in Bali
This natural waterfall is a hidden paradise. While we were there we only saw about 5 other people in comparison to the 100s at the Kanto Lampo waterfall.
There’s a ticket booth at the top next to the carpark but no one is checking your tickets so don’t feel obligated to purchase one. At the bottom there are toilets and changing rooms.
The waterfall consists of two basins that flow into each other each with unique waterfall features.

In the top basin, if you can push past the wind and current of the largest waterfall, you can climb behind it. But take note of the depth of the water before climbing up because the only way back down is to jump!
We spent hours exploring this waterfall compared to the Kanto Lampo waterfall. One of the guys I was travelling got someone else to lower him into a small pool where the water was rushing out of the first basin and wasn’t able to touch the floor!
There’s also cute pagodas to sit under if you want to eat as well as a little goldfish pond.
